Great workout with the wii Customer Reviews:
I really like this. I have recommended it to many people. I just completed the 30 day challenge. Its workouts have alot of variety and keeps my interest. This has defintely jump started me to lose weight and be more active. I like the mix of strength training with sporting activities such as boxing, basketball and tennis. You can program it for what intensity you want, what music to play, what your mii looks like, whether your trainer is male or female, or if you want to use the wii fit. I highly recommend purchasing it.

Great product for me when I customized it
Well, after reading several positive and negative reviews about this product, I decided to purchase it and make up my own mind. Now, the REALITY…it’s a product marketed to thousands of people of different ages, genders, sizes, and abilities. Knowing this allowed me to have a more open mind as to how I approached it. After opening it and reading all the literature, which isn’t much, I spent a few hours watching the instructional videos, so when I started using it, i would have the correct form and know to use and place the remotes. I also went to the Wii set-up menu and made sure that the distance range for the remotes to the sensor bar were correctly adjusted as I was closer to the bar when exercising that i was when playing a standard game. The distance will affect how one’s movements are perceived.
I started easy with a few standard workouts and found them challenging and I felt that after combining them with others I had a rather extensive workout. I then decided to do the 30 day challenge. I’m now at #15 and here are a few of my observations. First, the resistance band is too light for my preference…easy fix, I purchased a heavier one, no fuss. Just make sure that it doesn’t have bulky hand holds as trying to use it with the remotes will be awkward. I still didn’t feel I was getting enough of the upper body workout I desired, I purchased 6 lb wrist weights with thumb lock…done. Now, with the heavier band and the wrist weights I feel as though i get a terrific workout. Secondly, If one shakes, moves too fast, or has jerky movements, the game will stop and add precautionary statements. No biggy, just follow the directions.
Any negativity will come from the fact that it doesn’t have a weigh in. OK, not that big of a deal. Secondly, it’s too easy to “game” the system by not following the directions, knowing how to move the remotes to simulate proper movements, and finally not having a partner/coach to either yell at you to do it right or assist you in keeping proper position/posture. Well, there’s the trade off with a club membership and personal trainer vs at-home exercising. I have no aspirations of being an olympic athlete, nor win the New York marathon. If that’s the level that one is trying to attain, then this is NOT the product for you, but if one is striving to exercise more, be in the privacy of one’s own home, and have a pretty fun time doing it, then by-all means consider this product.
This product is not the “be-all” of exercise videos/games. It does require one to be committed in their pursuit, honest in their expectations, and open to adding custom accessories. I get a great workout, losing nearly 10 lbs in the last 20 days, and I have heard comments from my family as to being in better shape. No product, right out of the box is going to be perfect for everyone, but with a little tweeking, I find this an absolute keeper in my daily routine.

Too Sweaty To Type
I had my EA Active delivered today and I was itching to try it out because I quickly became bored with the Wii Fit games that focused mainly on balance and weight.

It was very easy to get set up. I configured my workout person to look a little bit like me although I hope I am a bit cuter. I kind of wish that they had child avatars for my kids who will play this soon, but that isn’t my biggest need.

I chose to work out on a medium skill level for the 30 day challenge. I’m not ultra fit by any means, but I’d like to think that I could run a mile or two if someone was chasing me. At the beginning of my workout, I started to think that I wasn’t being pushed enough, but by the end, I was sweating like a big dog — which was great. I believe my perception was caused by learning each movement before I started which gave me rest time. At the middle of my workout, some of the prior activities came up again and I was able to go right from exercise to exercise and that’s what I like. This is so much better than the Wii Fit.

I did the running, punching, inline skating (super fun and a killer), side lunges, squats and front shoulder raises for my first workout. Every exercise was entertaining. It did take me a little bit to get used to how you hold the remote, but now I’m a pro. I did do the “couch test” where I placed the remote on the couch to see if the avatar would do the exercise anyway — which it didn’t — unlike some other fitness titles. It really does mimic your movements, which I like.

Time for a shower and I can’t wait for day two of my challenge. I can assure you that you’ll like this game if you put the work into it. The couch won’t do it for you.
