What a great bargain! I hardly ever record more than 30 minutes of video at one time, so this is a wonderful and inexpensive way for me to record things. We used it on our recent vacation. I took my laptop with us and was able to download the videos after the camera was full and then use it again. The ease of using it and downloading directly from the camera is great. The quality of the still photos taken from the video wasn’t so wonderful, but the video was pretty good. One of my better bargain buys.
Great little video camera
I bought the flip video ultra cam for a great price here at Amazon. ($59) I wanted something that I could use to take small clips because I like to create videos with pictures and live video. It’s small, fit in my purse was so easy to use and so easy to hook up to my computer. The software within the cam was great, too. I was amazed at how well it picked up sound. I had someone use it to video a performance at my church and they were sitting a good 50 ft away and it picked up the sound so well. A little trick to know is that even if you delete the video off the camera itself you need to go in and save the video on your computer and then empty the trash within the software; otherwise your camera will fill up the 30 minutes pretty quickly.
One of my friends has a five year old daughter and this camera was easy enough for her to use.
Unfortunately, I only had this cam for a few weeks and someone broke into my house stole my purse so now it’s gone. If I buy another one I’d probably buy the one with 60 minutes. I would highly recommend this camera.
Flip Video Camcorder Ultra
This is my second Flip Video camera. I just love it. It is small, about the size of a deck of cards, so easy to carry. It takes excellent videos, even in low to normal lighting. The software is built in so no extra CD software to install before use. It has the built in USB plug too. They thought of everything! The program is easy to use and understand, you can even add music and make a movie to upload to several online web sites, or send it out on an email. I wish they offered more music options but you can use your on MP3 music as well. The software that comes with the camcorder if basic, but you can use a more advanced movie./video programs to make the movie if you have one installed on your computer. All in all it is a great little lightweight camcorder with a big heart! And for the price, you won’t beat it’s use and value!

Great tool for teachers short on time
As a primary school teacher I often find myself wishing I’d filmed those great moments of achievement or authentic realisation, but wasn’t prepared; couldn’t be bothered getting the professional camcorder out of the supplies cupboard, booking it in ‘just in case’ downloading it to Moviemaker, editing it, etc etc and finally showing it to the students at their gr 6 graduation- 9 months later!
The Flip allows me to quickly grab it at a moment’s notice (from my desk), ask the students to continue on and I (or they are) able to film those special moments of learning without any fuss, and to quickly download them, and view them all within minutes. Amazing! They are far more interested in improving as learners if they’ve watched themselves rather than the teacher just telling them what they should do next time.
Highly recommend it for anyone who wants a ‘fuss free’ camcorder.
Took it to a band the other night too and that was great, in spite of how far we were from the stage, the sound quality was exceptional- just don’t tell my principal.
Delivers What it Promises
This is the second Flip Ultra that I have purchased from Amazon. It does exactly what it is designed to do: produce easily transferable tv quality videos with a minimum of “technical interference” (dials, buttons, and settings) in a very compact package. Slip this in your pocket or purse and it is always available for those “Kodak Moments” that are otherwised missed. The Flip is pretty much “dummy proof” - turn it on, press the red button to start and stop recording, flip out the built in usb arm, plug it in to your computer. Once the video is downloaded you have the option of editing it, adding music to it, emailing it, or uploading to sites like YouTube for online viewing by others. The included editing software is rudimentary, but works for quick edits. The video files can be easily imported into more sophisticated editing programs for more extensive productions. This is an innovative product that is inexpensive enough that no family should be without one.
Very Impressed with this Flip Camera
I am Very Impressed with this Flip Camera! I bought it based on the other reviews and I could not be any more pleased. The Color LCD viewer is bright and clear and the One-Click record button is very simple to use. My computer recognized the Flip right away and downloaded the necessary software to download so I could transfer the films. Each time you click on the record button you are making a single, seperate video but the software allows you to link them all together to make a smooth and seemless video.
I have also burned my first DVD from the film I took and this could not have been easier. It coached me through how to make a chapters page, colors to import, images to import, music to import, credits to create and then click to burn. Very simple and the disk played on my DVD machine. The 30 min capacity is more than adequate. The AOL Video Share option is no longer valid but the software will point you to a very friendly replacement video store and share site.
I highly recommend this product in the strongest of terms. You will not be disappointed.
